Attio vs HubSpot: Seat Pricing, Custom Objects, and What a Migration Leaves Behind
Last updated October 24, 2026 · 7 min read
Attio is the better CRM for a small sales team whose customers don’t fit HubSpot’s contact-and-deal mold. HubSpot is the better CRM for almost everyone whose leads arrive through marketing. That split matters more than any feature grid, and it also decides how painful a switch will be later, which is the part every comparison we read for this page skipped.
Prices below come from Attio’s and HubSpot’s pricing pages as of October 24, 2026, plus Attio’s help center and HubSpot’s knowledge base. Several of the articles ranking for this comparison still quote older Attio prices. Check the live page before you sign.
The Short Version
Buy Attio if you run a sales team of two to ten people, your records need their own shapes (a recruiting firm with candidates and client companies, say, or a marketplace where buyers and sellers are both customers), and nobody wants to learn HubSpot’s settings menus. Buy HubSpot if marketing will work in the same tool. If you’re on HubSpot Starter and your only complaint is the interface, stay put.
Pricing in October 2026
| Feature | Attio | HubSpot Sales Hub |
|---|---|---|
| Free plan | Up to 3 seats, 50,000 records, 3 objects, 3 reports | Up to 2 users |
| Entry paid plan | Plus, $44/seat/mo annually or $55 monthly | Starter, $7/seat/mo annually or $20 monthly |
| Mid tier | Pro, $79/seat/mo annually or $99 monthly | Professional, $90/seat/mo annually or $100 monthly |
| Top tier | Enterprise, custom pricing | Enterprise, $150/seat/mo, annual only |
| Onboarding fee | None listed | $1,500 on Professional, $3,500 on Enterprise |
| Seat cap on entry plan | 10 seats on Plus | None stated |
| Custom objects | 5 on Plus, 12 on Pro, unlimited on Enterprise | Enterprise only |
| Automation limits | Workflows on every plan, plus monthly credit allowances | 50 workflows on Starter, 300 on Professional, 1,000 on Enterprise |
| Reports | 15 on Plus, 100 on Pro | Forecasting starts at Professional |
HubSpot’s Starter price looked like a typo when we checked. It was listed at $7 a seat a month on annual billing, about a sixth of Attio Plus, and it includes sequences (5,000 per account) and up to 15 pipelines. For a team that needs a shared pipeline and follow-up emails, that is enough CRM.
The comparison changes at Professional, where forecasting lives and where most growing sales teams end up. Here is year one for five people on annual billing:
| Feature | Attio | HubSpot Sales Hub |
|---|---|---|
| Entry plan, 5 seats | Plus: $2,640 | Starter: $420 |
| Mid tier, 5 seats | Pro: $4,740 | Professional: $5,400 + $1,500 onboarding = $6,900 |
| Top tier, 5 seats | Enterprise: sales quote | Enterprise: $9,000 + $3,500 onboarding = $12,500 |
The onboarding fee is one-time, so HubSpot Professional drops to $5,400 in year two. Attio still wins on price at that tier.
Watch the eleventh hire. Attio Plus stops at ten seats, and once you need more than that the whole team moves to Pro, which takes the annual bill from $5,280 for ten people on Plus to $10,428 for eleven on Pro, nearly double for one extra salesperson and features like advanced permissions and SSO that you may not have wanted yet.
Data Model: Where Attio Earns Its Price
HubSpot ships with contacts, companies, deals, and tickets, and it expects you to use them. You can add properties freely. You can’t add a new kind of record unless you pay for Enterprise, which for five seats means $12,500 in the first year.
Attio treats objects as the thing you configure. A seed fund can keep limited partners apart from founders without pretending either one is a “contact” with a custom dropdown, and do it on Plus.
If your motion is one buyer at one company working one deal, Attio’s flexibility is cost with no payoff, and you will spend your first week designing objects HubSpot gave you on day one.
Reports
Attio Plus allows 15 reports, which sounds generous until the board deck wants six of them by itself.
What a HubSpot-to-Attio Migration Leaves Behind
If you already pay for HubSpot, what survives the move matters more than any price row. Attio’s own help center is specific about it.
Attio migrates through a service called Import2, free on paid plans and run by an admin. It moves companies, people, deals, custom objects, notes, tasks, and files. HubSpot contacts become Attio people.
What doesn’t move: workflows, sequences, reports, and call recordings. Email and calendar history isn’t imported either; it comes back when each rep connects a mailbox in Attio.
Count your HubSpot workflows before you compare seat prices. Every one is a rebuild. A Professional account can hold 300, and a team that has lived in HubSpot for a few years can easily have dozens nobody remembers writing, some of them quietly assigning owners or setting lifecycle stages that your reports depend on. If you plan to move some of that logic out of the CRM entirely, our Zapier vs Make vs n8n comparison covers where it can go.
The import also has a trap in its order of operations. Import2 matches people by email and companies by domain, and when it finds a match it attaches notes and tasks but leaves the existing record’s fields alone. Connect your mailboxes first and Attio auto-creates records from your inbox. The import then refuses to fill in their fields. Attio’s fix is blunt: delete every existing record, including the ones mailbox sync created, and run the migration again.
The order that avoids it:
- Export a list of every HubSpot workflow, sequence, saved report, and call recording you want to keep, with an owner for each rebuild.
- Clean the data in HubSpot: phone numbers with country codes, company domains as root domains only.
- Run Import2 into an empty Attio workspace, before anyone connects a mailbox.
- Connect mailboxes and calendars, then rebuild workflows starting with the ones that write to fields.

HubSpot: Strengths and Weaknesses
✓Pros

- ✓Marketing and sales work from one shared contact record
- ✓Large integration marketplace
- ✓Forecasting and up to 300 workflows on Professional
✗Cons
- ✗Custom objects only on Enterprise
- ✗Required onboarding fees of $1,500 and $3,500
- ✗Settings sprawl that small teams rarely need
- ✗Forecasting locked to Professional and up
Who Should Choose Which
Choose Attio if you are a team of under ten sellers, your records don’t map to contacts and deals, and you would rather design the CRM once than work around HubSpot’s defaults for years. It is also the cheaper road to Professional-grade features, as long as you stay under the Plus seat cap or accept Pro pricing.
Choose HubSpot if leads come in through forms and email campaigns your marketing team runs, because one shared record between marketing and sales is worth more than a nicer interface. Our HubSpot vs Salesforce comparison covers the other direction, when HubSpot starts to feel small.
Stay on HubSpot if you have more than a few dozen active workflows and no one with a free month to rebuild them.
The Verdict
For a sales-led startup under ten seats with an unusual data model, Attio Plus is the better buy: custom objects at $44 a seat and a migration that costs nothing but your time. For anyone whose pipeline starts in marketing, HubSpot wins, and Starter at $7 a seat is hard to argue with. If you are already on HubSpot Professional, the license savings from switching are real but small next to the cost of rebuilding every workflow, so count those first.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Attio cheaper than HubSpot?
Against HubSpot Sales Hub Professional, yes. Five seats on Attio Plus cost $2,640 a year on annual billing, while five Professional seats cost $5,400 a year plus a required $1,500 onboarding fee in the first year. Against HubSpot Starter, no. Starter was listed at $7 a seat a month on annual billing in October 2026, so five seats cost $420 a year.
Does HubSpot have custom objects like Attio?
Only on Enterprise. HubSpot's knowledge base lists custom objects for Sales Hub Enterprise and the other Enterprise hubs, and Sales Hub Enterprise costs $150 a seat a month plus a $3,500 onboarding fee. Attio allows up to 5 objects on Plus and 12 on Pro.
What doesn't transfer when you migrate from HubSpot to Attio?
Attio's migration tool, Import2, moves companies, people, deals, custom objects, notes, tasks, and files. Workflows, sequences, reports, and call recordings do not move, so you rebuild them by hand. Email and calendar history comes back by connecting mailboxes in Attio, not through the import.
Is the Attio migration service free?
Yes, on paid plans. Attio's help center says Import2 is free for workspaces on any paid plan, and an admin has to run it. Free-plan workspaces don't get it.
