Attio is the best CRM for most B2B SaaS startups in 2026, because custom objects start on its $35-a-seat Plus plan and there is no onboarding fee. Choose HubSpot instead if marketing will generate most of your pipeline, because Starter at $7 a seat is the cheapest paid CRM here, though Professional costs $90 a seat plus $1,500 to switch on. Choose Pipedrive if you run an outbound team that lives in one deal pipeline, and start on Growth (about $39 a seat), the first plan with automations.
That ranking assumes founder-led sales and a product people can sign up for. Change either one and the answer moves, which is what most of this page is about. Headcount matters too, at exactly one number (eleven), covered below.
Attio and HubSpot prices come from their pricing pages, checked October 30, 2026, and they match our Attio vs HubSpot comparison. Pipedrive sets prices by region and its pricing page wouldn’t load for us, so its numbers are the annual rates two 2026 price trackers agree on. Its Premium plan is listed at $49 by one tracker and $59 by another. We left it out of every total. SaaS Versus doesn’t sell a CRM, and the site footer notes that some links may be affiliate links.
Seat prices in October 2026
| Feature | Attio | HubSpot Sales Hub | Pipedrive |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free plan | Up to 3 seats, 50,000 records, 3 objects, 3 reports | Up to 2 users | None; 14-day free trial |
| Entry paid plan | Plus: $35/seat/mo annually, $44 monthly | Starter: $7/seat/mo annually, $20 monthly | Lite: about $14/seat/mo annually, $24 monthly |
| Second tier | Pro: $79/seat/mo annually, $99 monthly | Professional: $90/seat/mo annually, $100 monthly | Growth: about $39/seat/mo annually, $49 monthly |
| Higher tiers | Enterprise: custom pricing | Enterprise: $150/seat/mo, annual only | Premium: $49 or $59 (sources disagree); Ultimate: about $79 |
| Onboarding fee | None listed | $1,500 on Professional, $3,500 on Enterprise | None listed |
| Custom objects | 5 on Plus, 12 on Pro | Enterprise only | None; custom fields only |
| Automation | Workflows on every plan, metered by credits | 50 workflows on Starter, 300 on Professional | None on Lite; starts on Growth |
| Biggest trade-off | Plus stops at 10 seats | Starter to Professional is a 13x jump per seat | No free plan and no custom objects |
HubSpot Starter at $7 still looks like a mistake. It isn’t one, and for two founders sending follow-ups out of a shared pipeline it is plenty of CRM.
What five seats cost in year one
Five seats is the size most seed-stage B2B companies hit within a year of their first sales hire: two founders, two account executives, one person in customer success. Annual billing throughout.
| CRM and plan | Per seat, annual billing | Year one, 5 seats | Year two, 5 seats |
|---|---|---|---|
| HubSpot Starter | $7 | $420 | $420 |
| Pipedrive Lite | About $14 | About $840 | About $840 |
| Attio Plus | $35 | $2,100 | $2,100 |
| Pipedrive Growth | About $39 | About $2,340 | About $2,340 |
| Attio Pro | $79 | $4,740 | $4,740 |
| Pipedrive Ultimate | About $79 | About $4,740 | About $4,740 |
| HubSpot Professional | $90 | $6,900 ($5,400 + $1,500 onboarding) | $5,400 |
The cheapest row is HubSpot’s and so is the most expensive. That spread is the whole HubSpot story for a startup: Starter costs less than lunch, and the plan with forecasting costs more than either rival’s top tier.
The upgrade cliff in each one
Every one of these CRMs has a point where the bill jumps faster than the team does. Know where yours is before you load 4,000 contacts into it.
Attio: the eleventh seat. Plus caps at ten seats. Ten people on Plus cost $4,200 a year; eleven people have to move to Pro, at $10,428 a year. That is roughly two and a half times the bill for one more salesperson, and the hire usually lands right after a Series A, when nobody is watching software spend.
HubSpot: forecasting. Starter has no forecasting and caps you at 50 workflows with restricted triggers. The first time a board member asks for a commit number by rep, you are looking at Professional, and five seats go from $420 to $6,900 in a single renewal.
Pipedrive: the first automation. Lite has none. Growth roughly triples the seat price to get them, which is still cheaper than either rival’s mid tier, and LeadBooster, Web Visitors and Campaigns are add-ons billed per company on top.
Why the data model decides it for SaaS companies
A B2B SaaS company does not sell to contacts. It sells to an account that has a workspace in your product, a trial that started on a date, maybe three admins and forty seats, and a champion who may or may not be the person who signs. HubSpot and Pipedrive give you contacts, companies and deals and ask you to fit all of that into custom fields.
Attio lets you make “Workspace” and “Trial” their own objects on the Plus plan, linked to the company record, with product signups pushed in from your own database through Attio’s API. In HubSpot the same setup needs custom objects, which means Enterprise, which means $12,500 in year one for five people. Pipedrive doesn’t offer it at any price.
If your startup sells a contract with no self-serve product (a services-heavy platform, say, or hardware with software attached), this advantage disappears and Attio’s flexibility becomes setup work you didn’t need.
On the free plans
HubSpot Free holds two users and Attio Free holds three, so the CRM a company starts on is often decided by whether it was founded by two people or three.
Where each option fits (and where it does not)
| CRM | Fits | Does not fit |
|---|---|---|
| Attio | Product-led or founder-led B2B SaaS with up to ten sellers, where accounts, workspaces and trials need their own records | Teams that will pass ten seats within a year and don’t want Pro, and simple one-buyer, one-deal sales where custom objects add nothing |
| HubSpot | Startups where content, ads and forms produce most leads, and marketing and sales need one contact record; also the cheapest paid start at $7 a seat | Teams that need forecasting on a seed budget: Professional costs $6,900 in year one for five seats |
| Pipedrive | Outbound SDR and AE teams working one visual deal pipeline, who want automations for well under HubSpot Professional | Product-led SaaS that needs usage and workspace data in the CRM, and founders who want a free plan |
Switching later
Picking the cheap option now and moving later is a real plan, but price the move. Attio’s free migration service, Import2, brings over companies, people, deals, notes, tasks and files from HubSpot. Workflows, sequences, reports and call recordings stay behind and have to be rebuilt by hand. Our Attio vs HubSpot guide walks through the import order that avoids duplicate records.

The Verdict
Buy Attio if you are a B2B SaaS startup with founder-led sales and a product people sign up for. It works best under ten sellers. Start on Free, move to Plus at $35 a seat, and put a note in the calendar for the eleventh hire. Buy HubSpot Starter if marketing is your pipeline, but budget now for Professional at $6,900 in year one for five seats, because forecasting will be asked for. Buy Pipedrive Growth if you run an outbound team that wants a fast pipeline and automations without HubSpot’s price, and you do not need product data in the CRM.
